About Amber Coast Logistics

Amber Coast Logistics

ACL                                            BSR

Amber Coast Logistics is a collaborative project that supports the coordinated development of logistic centres and thus fosters the connection of areas with low accessibility in the southern and eastern Baltic Sea Region (BSR) to the European transport network and international trade flows.

The transnational project partnership represents the concrete theme of ACL. 20 partners from six countries (Belarus, Denmark, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland) form the project and compose four thematic clusters: transport and logistics players, ports, authorities and associations and research institutions.

School of Business and Management of Technology of BSU, Scientific and Technological Park BNTU "Polytechnic" and Belarusian Association of International Forwarders "BAIF" represent the project in Belarus.

Goals of Amber Coast Logistics

  • to improve cargo flows both on sea and land side and thus strengthen economic ties between emerging eastern countries like Belarus, Russian Federation and Ukraine and EU member states within the BSR;
  • to facilitate sustainable mutual development.

According to the work plan it's necessary to participate in the following work packages:

WP1: Project Management & Administration

WP2: Communication & information

internal communication of all project partners and high-quality external dissemination of project results to national
and regional stakeholders; organisation of workshops and committees

WP 3: Flow of Goods and institutional legal framework

determine strategic aspects for improving internal and external accessibility in the Amber Coast region, thus improving the efficiency of logistics services in the region, and creating seamless transport solutions between the Baltic Sea Region countries and the neighbours Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan and potentially onto the other Central Asian Republics. Activities will include the composing of policy recommendations, actions plans and strategic guidelines for increasing accessibility in the Baltic Sea Region and will be supplemented by an exchange programme for capacity building, involving all partners.

WP 4: Sustainable and efficient transport concepts and multi-modal transport chains

strengthening of sustainable muti-modal transport concepts within an overall logistical structure EU/Belarus (and  beyond), meeting the special requirements of areas with low accessibility. By developing innovative concepts of linking different modes of transport and optimizing their interfaces and by connecting different modes of transport the specific advantages of each of them can be integrated within one transport chain.

WP 5: Regional Logistics Integration

comprehensive main part of ACL that processes input of both WP 3 and 4. Based on transnational best practice exchange between the partners, WP5 wants to develop tailor made solutions for connecting areas with low accessibility with international cargo flows by the use of logistic centers, freight villages and amber coast ports
